P. Bose, Diabetes Research Worker, Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, who remarks that the method has undergone several modifications in Mie hands of Lewis, Benedict, Meyers, Baily and others, but has never yet obtained universal acceptance. The main objection to this method is that the picric acid reagent employed in fhe test reacts with the creatinin of the blood, and this tends to make the reading of the blood sugar value higher than it actually is. We have not had access to Johannsen's original description, but the following abstract is taken, with acknowledgments, from the number of the Journal of the American Medical Association mentioned.
